Street Warriors headline the next Klub Koori u18s on Saturday 21 January 2012. Book now to join the boys and a stellar lineup of talent including Sean Choolburra, Nellie Dargon, Young Nook and B Boy & Ezy. This Klub Koori will be a boat cruise on the Tribal Warrior, Marri Nawi boat leaving Sydney Harbour at the Manawar Steps, east side of the Opera House at 6pm. The evening will wind up at 11pm. Street Warriors are appearing around the country at various community events and conducting hip hop workshops with a key  message to deliver as AEC/IEPP ambassadors: encouraging indigenous Australians to have their say.  As indigenous Australians ‘we have to be in the race’ says Predator. And one way to do this is to enrol to vote.

While Indigenous Australians achieved legal equality in electoral participation in 1962, in practice, they remain disadvantaged. They are significantly less likely to enrol to vote, less likely to vote, and more likely to vote informally than non-indigenous Australians.

An AEC priority is to close the gap in Indigenous disadvantage in electoral participation, and it has established the Indigenous Electoral Participation Program to achieve this goal.

A core component of IEPP is a face-to-face education program delivered Australia-wide by 25 field staff, 17 of whom are Indigenous. Their work is based on building strong relationships with Indigenous communities.

“Encouraging Indigenous Australians to participate in the electoral process is a continuing priority, but is particularly important now as Australia considers amendments to the Constitution to recognise Indigenous Australians, Mr Eckhardt said.

Street Warriors headline the next Vibe 3on3 on Thursday December 8th at Broadmeadow Basketball Stadium in Broadmeadow.  Predator and Wok will be opening the event with a performance at 9.30 and will conduct hip hop workshops throughout the day.  Pre-registration is through your school by 5pm December 1st.  Vibe 3on3 is a free indigenous and non-indigenous fun filled day featuring 30n3 basketball, a health expo, dance, art, culture and hip hop workshops, prizes and a free bbq.  Call 02 9361 0140 to participate.
